EIT Digital helps expand RebelRoam’s European business

RebelRoam has joined the EIT Digital Accelerator to speed up its expansion across Europe’s transportation sectors. Rebelroam has developed a solution specifically for transportation providers which makes onboard & inflight Wi-Fi networks both faster and less expensive by optimizing the data traffic in the cloud. RebelRoam currently helps the transportation industry market leaders in Europe who are already providing onboard & inflight Wi-Fi to their passengers.

CEO of RebelRoam Henri Ploom explains: “Our solution helps transportation companies such as trains, intercity buses, cruise & river ferries and airplanes provide best Wi-Fi experience without any added costs. On average, our Wi-Fi optimization solution reduces data consumption and costs by up to 50%. Passengers are happier because they can access more of their favourite content while transport operators keep their cost under control.” RebelRoam is on a mission to fix broken onboard Wi-Fi experience. Collaboration with EIT Digital gives RebelRoam the opportunity to tap into the experience and know-how of EIT Digital’s large team of international business developers all over Europe. Their local presence and expertise will help RebelRoam shorten sales cycles on each market as well as scale the business much faster.

Dolf Wittkämper, Head of the EIT Digital Accelerator added: “We are happy to welcome RebelRoam in our portfolio of innovative Digital Infrastructure scaleups. RebelRoam is another great company from Estonia to trust our scaleup activities. Go Bus uses RebelRoam to improve performance (in Estonian)

Esimesena võtab Go Bus uued meediaserverid kasutusele Hiiumaa kaugliini bussides. Samuti paigaldatakse meediaserverid novembrist alustavatesse Tallinn-Tartu kaugliini bussidesse.“Go Bus on kaasaegne ja arenev ettevõte ning seetõttu soovime klientidele pakkuda võimalikult kvaliteetset reisimisvõimalust, mille lahutamatu osa on tänapäeval võimalus mugavalt tööd teha ning sõidu jooksul head meelelahutust nautida,” lausus Sarv. “Seetõttu otsustasime valida reisijate jaoks kaasaegse ja paindliku lahenduse, mille abil on võimalik just isiklike seadmetega internetis käia ja filme vaadata.”GoBus’i Wi-Fi lahendus on tehtud koostöös idufirmaga RebelRoam, mis tegeleb mobiilandmeside optimeerimisega, et tagada reisijatele võimalikult sujuv ja hea kvaliteediga internetiühendus. Lahendus võimaldab tavapärasest kuni kolm korda rohkem üheaegseid Wi-Fi kasutajaid viisil, et ühendus pole ülekoormatud.Bussidesse paigaldatud meediaserverid ja kasutajate programmid on tootnud Hispaania ettevõte Azimut ning tulevikus on Go Busil plaan neid lisada veel teistelegi Eesti kaugliinidele.

Elron Train Fleet Improves Passenger Wi-Fi Satisfaction with RebelRocket Data Optimization

Elron Train Fleet Improves Passenger Wi-Fi Satisfaction with RebelRocket Data Optimization

The Elron fleet recently upgraded with major network optimization changes. AS Eesti Liinirongid, operating as Elron, is a government-owned passenger train operator in Estonia. The company was separated from Eesti Raudtee in 1998. RebelRoam assists Elron with RebelRocket Wi-Fi Data Optimization.

Service quality degradation resulting from the interference, signal propagation issues and congestion had been familiar to Elron users. RebelRocket Cloud optimizes Elron’s wireless networks by web filtering, traffic shaping and accelerating the data using a combination of rock-solid DNS policy server coupled with a transparent proxy/load-balancer/accelerator. This lowers costs for Wi-Fi providers like Elron, reduces data consumption and improves Wi-Fi speeds.
